Visual Worship Beyond The White Box Screen

Stephen Proctor (left) and Camron Ware (right) talk about the future of visual worship and the need to create transformational experiences within your worship spaces. (That's me in the strange box in the upper right corner...not used to being recorded myself while interviewing people)

good suggestion. honestly, this was just an un-edited iChat video recording.... but as we do more (or any type of blogs) then it's definitely something we'll consider when it's appropriate. you can check out my blog (worshipVJ.com) or Camron's blog (visualworshiper.com) to see examples of our work. Camron's blog has some great photos on it.
i'll be working on a new VJ video to post....hopefully in the coming weeks.

I've also thought about posting some controversial/debatable images and talk about how we should or should not use them. it's formulating in my head right now.

there's so many good examples out there...and so many bad examples, too. it's hard to write about them and demonstrate them in the context of a blog..."visual worship" is best experienced in the context of corporate worship.
But we'll still try.

for now, i suggest getting that book (it's on Amazon) and reading it.... many of our friends are doing it now (just search "visualworship" on twitter), and i think that'll help get everyone on a level playing field so we can start some heavy discussions.

lots of work to do...

Josh,

It's interesting dialog. I very much appreciate their depth of understanding about how worship can be an experience, but shouldn't be entertainment, and about how they see their work as more than doing cool stuff with lights and video.

If I can make a suggestion, images or video of Steven and Camron's work--examples of "visual worship leading"--might have made better use of the video medium. Just a thought.

A few years ago I had the pleasant discovery that the words from the classic Easter Hymn "He Lives" fit nicely into the lyrical form of "Days of Elijah." I rewrote the chorus (yes there's a "doth" in there- I like the way it sounds) and voila! A new…

Not going to tackle your question (right now). But great point on the relationship between our prayer life and our creativity. I dig that. Here is my question: Do you know more worship pastors and pastors who have a deep and dynamic prayer life, or…

Linda, you are one crazily creative lady. You interwove so many elements into this liturgy of weaving... spectacular. Too good.

I always knew you were a closet Steven Curtis Chapman fan! :) Erwin McManus talks about creativity being an overflow of a dynamic prayer walk and I know that's definitely been true in my own life. When I'm really walking closely with God and looking…
