I'd like to know where is the music that actually engages the congregation in singing so that you can hear the person beside you and that the music engages all age groups?
July 19
I agree about the "honest" Christian music and like the singer/song writers you list. But, I take some exception about Bryan Sirchio. He is a decent acoustic musician but his "faith" is drive by his politics and not the other way around. Being ordai…

Hey Richard... thanks for this. I too am looking forward to this. We have a great blend of worship artisans, worship curators, theologians and philosophers coming. With a blend of rest, daily rhythm, imaginative spiritual exercises, interesting peop…

Hi Richard , My take on the issue is much more from the economic/sociological perspective than that of spiritual/theological although it is quite impossible to separate the two. The problem is that we are often blind or naive to how these structures…

In a couple of weeks I'm going to be participating in a rather cool week-long worship retreat called 1/2 Speed. Basically it's NOT an event were we get talked at for five days and then "come down the mountain" and forget everything we heard. Instead…

This is going to be a very cool event. I think everyone who attends will be profoundly impacted. I can't wait for it to start. - Richard

1/2 Speed is a five day spiritual retreat where we will dwell in community at the juncture of corporate worship, meditation, devotional exercises, theology and philosophy. This will occur through a carefully crafted blend of daily rhythm, stimulatin…

This is one of those solid workhorse albums from which worship leaders can get a lot of mileage. While it won’t completely blow you away, there are several excellent worship songs that are extremely congregation-friendly. A lot of this has to do wi…

Hi Richard,
I really enjoyed your article "Understanding Hillsong Worship Music". Would I be able to have your permission to have it printed in our church magazine Reveal? Here's a link to some past editions of the magazine: http://www.ilp.org.au/reveal/index.htm

I look foward to hearing from you. Thanks!

Richard, I just finished reading your review of the Hillsong album "Across the Earth" in the June 2009 Worship Leader magazine. Very well written. I am a worship leader in Houston, TX and would be interested in your opinion on my newly released CD "Distant Thunder." You can listen to the songs at www.soundsugar.net/distant_thunder. I would highly value your opinion. Thank you. Karl Brunig

Richard,
Yes there is a lot of music out there that reflects the ideas that myself and Phil were trying to get across. In addition to mewithoutYou, Anathallo, and Cool Hand Luke, you may want to check out some other musicians like As Cities Burn, Manchester Orchestra, Sufjan Stevens, and Gileah and the Ghost Train.

Much love to you.

Richard,
I shot a story on LCH for Mosaic back in the 90's when Householder was just getting things going. Glad you are doing well. I'd love to swap stories with your media guy.

Hey bro! Where are you at these days? I jumped the Higgins Road ship in March 07 and started my own video production company. 14 happy years was enough. Hope all is well with you.

Nice stuff Cyndi. I like the thinking you have done around what you do, before you do it! Not enough people make that kind of close contextualisation to their congregation. Nice.
