Profile Information

The name of your church / organization?
Lutheran Church of Hope
How are you involved in worship?
Music, Production, Creative Team, Planning Team, Pastor
An aspect of creative worship you are passionate about?
I'm most passionate about transforming creativity into an actual service.
A challenge when planning creative worship?
Building community among the leaders and, within that, an open, sustainable creativity process.
A favorite creative moment in worship?
What moves me the most in worship is not so much what we do but the point when the congregation becomes engaged and the spiritual energy is bouncing throughout the entire room.
A favorite quote or scripture about creative worship:
Romans 12:1
Therefore I urge you brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. This is your spiritual worship/reasonable service.

(Also Isaiah 6:1-8)

Hi Richard,
I really enjoyed your article "Understanding Hillsong Worship Music". Would I be able to have your permission to have it printed in our church magazine Reveal? Here's a link to some past editions of the magazine: http://www.ilp.org.au/reveal/index.htm

I look foward to hearing from you. Thanks!

Richard, I just finished reading your review of the Hillsong album "Across the Earth" in the June 2009 Worship Leader magazine. Very well written. I am a worship leader in Houston, TX and would be interested in your opinion on my newly released CD "Distant Thunder." You can listen to the songs at www.soundsugar.net/distant_thunder. I would highly value your opinion. Thank you. Karl Brunig

Richard,
Yes there is a lot of music out there that reflects the ideas that myself and Phil were trying to get across. In addition to mewithoutYou, Anathallo, and Cool Hand Luke, you may want to check out some other musicians like As Cities Burn, Manchester Orchestra, Sufjan Stevens, and Gileah and the Ghost Train.

Much love to you.

Richard,
I shot a story on LCH for Mosaic back in the 90's when Householder was just getting things going. Glad you are doing well. I'd love to swap stories with your media guy.

Hey bro! Where are you at these days? I jumped the Higgins Road ship in March 07 and started my own video production company. 14 happy years was enough. Hope all is well with you.

There's so much here, Eric, it's hard to pick the one thing in your blog that stands out most. I'll get the obvious out of the way: Andy Warhol is one of the last people I'd ever consider as the new model for worship leadership. What a radical, outr…
