This is one of those solid workhorse albums from which worship leaders can get a lot of mileage. While it won’t completely blow you away, there are several excellent worship songs that are extremely congregation-friendly. A lot of this has to do wi…

Just for fun I’ve been counting the amount of people I know that did NOT make New Year’s resolutions. It seems many of my friends have decided to avoid the whole resolution business. Since they weren’t able to keep last year’s, why bother with this…

Thx Richard for your observations and conversations.... What works....for some.... is the posting of the biblical texts that relate to the Words of Instutition.... BEING GENEROUS with the WINE and BREAD....I am still amazed how some people will be…

This week we examine the fourth and final segment of liturgical or narrative-style worship: the Response. The goal of this segment is to help worshippers appropriate and live out what they’ve experienced in the other three segments (Gathering, Word…

Mark, You've made some very powerful and penetrating observations! I often find in non-traditional settings that we almost try to hide the sacraments, as if they are an embarrassing relic of our past. We don't really know what they're for, hence we…

Two weeks ago we examined the second of four segments (the Word) within traditional liturgical services. This week we’ll take a look at the third segment: Communion. This segment goes by many names: the Lord’s Supper, the Eucharist, the Breaking of…

Hey Beth, this is Celia Whitler jumping in. The lyrics, chords, melody, mp3 and video to "Live Christ" can be found here. I wish I could say I remember writing the song, but what I remember is staring down at it on the page after it was done. It was…

Hi Richard,
I really enjoyed your article "Understanding Hillsong Worship Music". Would I be able to have your permission to have it printed in our church magazine Reveal? Here's a link to some past editions of the magazine: http://www.ilp.org.au/reveal/index.htm

I look foward to hearing from you. Thanks!

Richard, I just finished reading your review of the Hillsong album "Across the Earth" in the June 2009 Worship Leader magazine. Very well written. I am a worship leader in Houston, TX and would be interested in your opinion on my newly released CD "Distant Thunder." You can listen to the songs at www.soundsugar.net/distant_thunder. I would highly value your opinion. Thank you. Karl Brunig

Richard,
Yes there is a lot of music out there that reflects the ideas that myself and Phil were trying to get across. In addition to mewithoutYou, Anathallo, and Cool Hand Luke, you may want to check out some other musicians like As Cities Burn, Manchester Orchestra, Sufjan Stevens, and Gileah and the Ghost Train.

Much love to you.

I shot a story on LCH for Mosaic back in the 90's when Householder was just getting things going. Glad you are doing well. I'd love to swap stories with your media guy.

Hey bro! Where are you at these days? I jumped the Higgins Road ship in March 07 and started my own video production company. 14 happy years was enough. Hope all is well with you.

A few years ago I had the pleasant discovery that the words from the classic Easter Hymn "He Lives" fit nicely into the lyrical form of "Days of Elijah." I rewrote the chorus (yes there's a "doth" in there- I like the way it sounds) and voila! A new…
