What comes to mind is Paul's word choice as he deals with the conflict in Corinth over the meal. He chooses the word "genuine" to describe those who face the conflict faithfully. Right or wrong practice/worship are labels that miss the point. As I u…
In some ways, the terms "micro-" and "macro-" cultures are a deconstruction of the sociological terms "sub" and "dominant" cultures.
Are you familiar with Clay Shirky and his most recent book "Here Comes Everybody"? In it, he writes about social groups, social media, and the ways that technology helps social groups form and expand. It reminded me of your comment about "community...[being] unbound by geographic proximity."
These are interesting times, as we see technology develop in response to our human social needs, and then being changed ourselves by new technology.
Thank you for your comments and participation in some of the conversations. You're challenging many of us to think beyond the glib and easy thoughts.
While I was replying to a comment from Linda I saw your comment to her on "micro-cultural diversity," which connects right in with the area that I am researching with regard to congregational leadership in the digital age.

Thanks for jumping right in and starting a conversation and adding to those ongoing. At least one of our goals is to bring people together who might not otherwise have an opportunity to connect, and to encourage sharing ideas and experiences. You've helped us forward in that regard.
I've not heard the term "micro-cultural diversity." What do you mean by that, and why is it a challenge?
Linda,
I think I have deleted a comment of yours by mistake!! My apologies. You can do what Stephen does. Talk to him about what is needed, or trawl around on his website. I think environmental projections would go great at a RED event. Its an easy…
Nice stuff Cyndi. I like the thinking you have done around what you do, before you do it! Not enough people make that kind of close contextualisation to their congregation. Nice.
Thanks, again, to Eric Herron for his "Show and Tell" post! Glad I could be a "guinea pig" for this new way to connect with others on the site. Anyway, I mentioned that I created a PowerPoint presentation to go with the Genesis 1 creation story. It…
This makes me think about what my high school jazz teacher said: "It is the silence between the notes that creates the rhythm."
Saying this was one of the ways he motivated antsy, immature, 16 yr. old jazz musicians to stop playing so many notes wh…
