Here's a couple videos we did last year for Holy Thursday. The first is a promo for the event. The second was part of a narrative of Jesus' last hours. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=513812749321 http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?

How are you guys thinking of intentionality? In the terms above, I lump it with "Collaborative". I know I have to be MOST intentional in including others in the process. It's easy for me to get selfish and want to have just MY name in the credits (y…

I like these, Josh. Another word I find for "God-Centered" is "Incarnational". If we serve a living God, then we should be no less than expectant that Jesus is very present and very real in and through our design. I find two other elements that play…

heh... just happened yeseterday, so we'll see if he follows up. We were in Dayton doing an "On the Street" video. Met a dude who said he was homeless, and casually mentioned he was in school at Sinclair, the local community college, for art. I told…

Media Team Field Trips

As a media producer, I can get stuck in front of my computer. It's easy nowadays with the newfound glories of animation to spend hours by yourself, editing series promos frame by frame. I love sitting through tutorials and learning new techniques. I could critique TV commercials for hours...

However, I am boldy reminded on a daily basis how important it is to bring others in to the equation. If shear workload doesn't instigate delegation, then the idea of discipleship and inclusivity should. As… Continue

photoshop - play with text - creating logos

Greetings! Let's go through some basic steps to creating a logo.

MOST logos will be used for print... which would require CMYK color mode, and 300dpi. However, in this instance, the Creative Worship Tour logo would be primarily used on-screen... so my document size is as follows:

Create a new document with t… Continue

photoshop - adding depth

Depth. Creating Z-Space on a flat screen... one of the many wonders of digital art. Shading and gradients (and a couple of neat tools) help us go from this:

Phototshop - Creating Text Effects

The FX button for layers in photoshop is small, so it's easy to miss. More than anything, the knowledge of its presence will be your greatest "takeaway" from this tutorial. Let's play around with some of its funcitons...

FIRST, create a new document. At Ginghamsburg, here is the standard for every graphic that goes on screen:

Wow, sorry it took so long to get back with you. I will home Friday May 15-20 for a short homeleave. Unfortunately I have spring break in D.C. and april is our senior trip so that leaves me with graduation time. I am going to keep the email address you gave me and try and keep in touch. This site is blocked unfortunately but feel free to get ahold of me at anikdoost@mvacademy.org.

Hi Dan,
My name is Allen and happen to live right up the street from Ginghamsburg. I attend a boarding school in Mt. Vernon and direct the media team there most of the year however. I was really wondering if you would be willing to teach me how to make graphics as nice as Ginghamsburg does sometime when i'm home. I wanted to go to the little bootcamp that Ginghamsburg put on but I was at school. Just so you know:
Mt. Vernon Academy is a Christian boarding school
We run various outreach ministries & have several worship services
That's pretty much it... thanks for your time, -A.N>

A few years ago I had the pleasant discovery that the words from the classic Easter Hymn "He Lives" fit nicely into the lyrical form of "Days of Elijah." I rewrote the chorus (yes there's a "doth" in there- I like the way it sounds) and voila! A new…

Not going to tackle your question (right now). But great point on the relationship between our prayer life and our creativity. I dig that. Here is my question: Do you know more worship pastors and pastors who have a deep and dynamic prayer life, or…

Linda, you are one crazily creative lady. You interwove so many elements into this liturgy of weaving... spectacular. Too good.

I always knew you were a closet Steven Curtis Chapman fan! :) Erwin McManus talks about creativity being an overflow of a dynamic prayer walk and I know that's definitely been true in my own life. When I'm really walking closely with God and looking…
