I posted this on my blog a while back, and wanted to see what people's thoughts were on here: I’ve been thinking a lot recently about image magnification (IMAG) during worship, and why some church communities do it and others don’t. I want to ask…

Profile Information

How are you involved in worship?
Media, Production, Creative Team, Planning Team
An aspect of creative worship you are passionate about?
Helping reignite the passion for visual worship in the local church, by teaching HOW and WHY to use technology.
I love visual worship leading for live events using lighting and projection, in all forms, to tell the Story through imagery and color.
A challenge when planning creative worship?
There is always tension between being creative/cutting edge/fresh and looking like a show. We all have to constantly be reminding ourselves that this is NOT about us, and that we are called to use our gifts and talents to glorify God, not ourselves.
A favorite creative moment in worship?
When you turn everything off and just sing your heart out with fellow believers next to you.

Hey Camron, the workshop was great! Eleven persons for a first time is a nice start. The 1.5 hour during workshop was an introduction of "vj-ing in the church." Visual Worship was really new for most of the participants. So I gave them a brief explanation. I also used your answers to get more in depth with them in visual worship. Practical issues like; where do I get some creative worship stuff were also handled. After this I explained them what they need for hardware. At last I made a live audio/video (dance)mix to show them the possibilities of resolume avenue. To make it more practical I did "a making of" of a live mixed multimedia message. The reactions were positive! I'm thinking of doing this workshop on a more frequently basis. Maybe in future...

Wow, Tom. That was very poignant. Some of your thoughts remind me of that movie "Pay It Forward". I also think about local church models: large vs. small. Typically, the larger church attempts to make a big splash and impact many at once. This is u…

I think it is much easier to pray for or want peace on a global or macro level and much harder to look into the mirror and pray and ask for peace in our own hearts. When we find peace with God we become a beacon of peace to our children, wife, husba…

I was sitting at my table, eating my breakfast cereal and minding my own business when WHAM! An overwhelming peace came over me. I don't think it was from God - it wasn't that good - and yet the calm that I experienced was tangible. And, the usual…

Traditionally we had the sermon as central. Singing and scripture was around that with singing a very important part. Now I am not sure- performance?? We had many praise bands, and many different songs that get played. Do we sing. Not really. Not su…

In 2000, I experienced the loss of my fiance, who died suddenly that April. As preparations began for Christmas, I was not very joyful and was at a loss for how to deal with my grief while others were celebrating. I attended a workshop at our local…
