I love the concept of the remembrance of baptism. It is something that can celebrate more of what God has done for us, and emphasize the daily significance of Baptism for our lives. As much as I love the concept, the liturgy in the ELW is extremely unengaging.

Last week for the Baptism of our Lord, I had our children take a cup of water from our baptismal font and make the sign of the cross on the heads of the congregation. (I reminded them that these people had made the mark of the cross on their heads when they were baptized.)

I'm looking for some other ways that we can emphasize this powerful event and make it more meaningful and memorable. Any other thoughts?

Nice stuff Cyndi. I like the thinking you have done around what you do, before you do it! Not enough people make that kind of close contextualisation to their congregation. Nice.

This makes me think about what my high school jazz teacher said: "It is the silence between the notes that creates the rhythm." Saying this was one of the ways he motivated antsy, immature, 16 yr. old jazz musicians to stop playing so many notes wh…
